When to See a Medical Doctor

Minor abdominal pain usually goes away on its own, but if pain persists or gets worse, speak to a doctor.

Also, speak to a doctor is symptoms last more than 24 hours, or stomach pain is accompanied by fever, loss of appetite, difficulty breathing, bloody stools, swelling or tenderness of the abdomen.

If pain is extremely severe, like from trauma or an accident, or there’s also pain or pressure in the chest, call 911 or seek emergency medical treatment.
