Minor Abdominal Pain

What is minor abdominal pain

Abdominal, or stomach, pain is pain or discomfort in the area between the chest and pelvis. And can range from minor to severe.

Common causes of minor abdominal pain include:

  • Indigestion
  • Constipation
  • Diarrhea
  • Heartburn
  • Stomach flu
  • Bloating

  • Stress

Treatment for pain depends on the reason, so a proper diagnosis will be required. Treatment will also depend on the person experiencing the symptoms, and their unique needs.

Treatments can range from medications, lifestyle changes, or even surgeries for more serious reasons.

When to See a Medical Doctor

Minor abdominal pain usually goes away on its own, but if pain persists or gets worse, speak to a doctor.

Also, speak to a doctor is symptoms last more than 24 hours, or stomach pain is accompanied by fever, loss of appetite, difficulty breathing, bloody stools, swelling or tenderness of the abdomen.

If pain is extremely severe, like from trauma or an accident, or there’s also pain or pressure in the chest, call 911 or seek emergency medical treatment.
